(The life cycles of expatriates)
Il s’agit “juste” de nous adapter à une nouvelle culture!
(we "just" need to adapt to our new culture!)
Today I was present at an excellent presentation given by Emmanuelle Metcalfe, a Clinical Psychologist, whos speciality is dealing with people living in the expatriate environment.
It covered all the aspects of being an expat: Insertion, Départ, Transition, Entrée, Retour, Réinsertion
That is: Departure, arrival, transition, integration, return, re-integration.
She talked about our 'third culture kids', about saying 'goodbye', about starting again and culture shock.
Emmanuelle also councils people with other problems - whether those people are children, adolescents or adults - In English or French.
